Alex G brings forth new album Rocket on 19 May via Domino and although it is his sixth LP and second with Domino, he remains as fresh as ever. The Philadelphia-based artist is simply prolific and new single ‘Bobby’, is true to his quirky offset acoustic sound. Never over-produced, there is an element of authenticity to his songs, as if sung for a friend in an open-mic or on a mix tape for a crush. Quality isn’t comprised of course though, and ‘Bobby’ remains a sweet song with simple strings smeared throughout. Accompanied by a simple video, Alex G proves less is more. - SJ
